From the Manufacturer

Toshiba’s RV525 series combines a 1080p full HD CineSpeed LCD display with DynaLight dynamic backlight control and a high-resolution PC input for true home theater picture quality and enhanced PC gaming.
True home theater picture quality and enhanced PC gaming
Full 1080p resolution for ultimate detail
DynaLight technology for a powerful picture with deep blacks for increased detail and incredible depth
Three HDMI inputs and multiple other connections

1080p Full HD CineSpeed LCD Display
Today’s highest resolution video content is 1920 x 1080 for over 2,000,000 pixels. A standard 720p HD display has less than 1,000,000 display pixels, and must discard half of the original video content, resulting in decreased picture detail. On the other hand, a 1080p Full HD Display has over 2,000,000 display pixels, maintaining the full video resolution and clarity. A CineSpeed display has an LCD Response Time of 8ms or less to ensure that the display is also fast enough for high quality home theater.

DynaLight Dynamic Backlight
The Toshiba RV525 utilizes advanced histogram image processing to monitor the brightness level of each video frame and automatically adjusts the backlight intensity based on the image content. This precise signal analysis allows for 256 levels of backlight control and can create a Dynamic Contrast that is 7 to 10 times greater than the original panel contrast. The result is a powerful picture with deep blacks for increased detail and incredible depth.

Built-In ATSC/NTSC/QAM Digital Tuning
Built-In ATSC/NTSC/QAM digital tuning allows for tuning of standard cable channels as well as off-air digital broadcasts, in addition to digital “cable-in-the-clear” broadcasts.

Gaming Mode
Gaming Mode enhances the gaming experience by reducing game controller delay. The Gaming Mode allows the video signal to bypass select picture circuitry to shorten the overall signal to screen time. This provides an approximate 33-millisecond response improvement for 60Hz models and 48-millisecond response improvement for 120Hz models, virtually eliminating controller delay.

High-Res PC Input (15-Pin D-Sub)
Perfect for the true PC gamer who likes a big screen, the Toshiba RV525 comes equipped with a 15-pin D-Sub connector to connect to your computer. In the world of the video game enthusiast, the better the view, the better the experience.

Color Temperature Control
Many Toshiba televisions provide three user-selectable Color Temperature settings that control the set’s overall white balance. The “Warm” setting reduces the color temperature to an NTSC standard 6500 degrees Kelvin and delivers a redder image that is ideal for display in a dimly lit room. “Medium” and “Cool” provide a progressively bluer image for the best picture as room light levels are increased. The viewer can adjust white balance to achieve the best television picture possible in any viewing environment, or they can simply adjust the picture to suit their personal tastes.

TheaterWide Modes
Sets with TheaterWide modes are ideal for displaying HDTV signals as well as “enhanced for widescreen television” DVDs. The “TheaterWide 1: Letterboxed” image is digitally expanded 33% horizontally and vertically, which is useful for reproducing Academy Standard (1.85:1) formatted media. The “TheaterWide 2: Letterboxed” image is expanded 33% horizontally and 42% vertically, great for viewing narrow letterboxed images originally filmed in Panavision or CinemaScope. Finally, the “TheaterWide 3: Letterboxed” image is expanded 33% horizontally and 24% vertically. This can be utilized when displaying letterboxed images that incorporate narrow bands at the top and bottom of the picture.

Quality Audio
Toshiba’s thin-line speaker system with enhanced dynamic range yields big speaker sound in a slim cabinet, and QSound 3D gives you a room-filling surround sound effect. Mute and Half Mute features let you back off the volume when commercials come on or you need to concentrate on something else.

Connectivity
The 32RV525R offers a wide variety of inputs and outputs, as follows:

  • HDMI Inputs (3)
  • ColorStream HD Component Video Inputs (2)
  • Front A/V / Rear A/V / Rear S-Video: 1/1/1

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

HDTV Size chart With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

  • Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
  • Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Full HD 1080P

full HD 1080P Full HD, or 1080p, contains 1.5 times more scanning lines than conventional HD TVs. More scanning lines mean more pixels, more details and a better picture. The new Samsung LCD TV with resolution that is approximately 2 times greater than conventional HDTVs, creating the most perfect picture imaginable. Samsung’s 1080p panel uses a new high-speed liquid crystal to cut response time to 6ms (milliseconds). 1080p

Auto Motion Plus 120Hz

auto motion plus 120Hz This technology doubles the frame rate from 60 to 120 frames per second (120Hz LCD panel) without repeating the same image to make more frames. Instead, the TV intelligently calculates the ‘middle’ image between frame A and frame B and inserts it in between (Auto Motion Plus 120Hz processor), making a fluid transition from one frame to the next. automotion graph

Wide Color Enhancer 3/Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp

Wide Color Enhancer 2 The NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) has established the color standards all TVs in America try to meet. And typical LCD TVs only meet about 72 percent of this standard. Samsung LCD HDTVs use Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp backlights to give you 92 percent coverage of the NTSC standard, ensuring truer, more breathlessly vivid colors.Samsung’s Wide Color Enhancer 3 technology delivers more brilliant colors by expanding the gamut of color expression into a third axis, creating a 3D diagram of luminance. This creates a dynamic display of on-screen color and allows traditionally weak colors, such as green and blue, to look vivid and deep. In addition, red colors are enhanced to provide strong colors across the spectrum and the perfect balance of RGB.

80,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio

70,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio 80,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio will give you a picture better than you ever thought possible, with whiter whites, blacker blacks and a nearly infinite subtlety of gradations in between. As two of the most important determining factors in overall picture quality, contrast and brightness levels achieve new heights in this latest generation LCD panel. Samsung’s new LCD TVs give the most stunning realistic picture quality ever.

Touch of Color

Touch of Color In 2008, Samsung created its unique Touch of Color (ToC) design, which uses dual-injection molding to coat a translucent, colored surface to achieve an attractive crystalline appearance. The latest evolution of Samsung’s ToC design begins with a deep piano black bezel that fades into distinct chrome that finishes as light ruby highlights. The intensity of the color subtly changes depending upon the viewing angle, and further accentuates the TV’s slim bezel.
